Art trail

We left our France Passion site before breakfast as we decided we needed to let the dogs have a roam so headed towards Loches. Luckily we found a convenient aire on the way then continued our journey. We parked at a great aire by the river in Loches and walked into town. Loche has an walled city (rather than just a chateau) which was begun by the first Count of Anjou in 988. We were spoilt for choice for walking trails so chose the art/sculpture trail over fields to Beaulieu a Loches. It was a great walk over meadows and along the river. Some of the sculptures were very impressive.

After the art tour we briefly walked round the walled city and pretty town.

After 3 hours of walking (Mitzi had definitely had enough) we returned to Vincent for a picnic lunch by the river.

We then drove onto Montresor, which also has a stately chateau, founded in 1005. In the 19th century it was bought by a Polish Count, Xavier Branicki - which would explain why there is a beautiful vintage Polish Daimler in the grounds.

After following the lizard trail round the village we treated ourself to an ice cream and saw some funny geese

before setting off to Blere, a town on the river Le Cher. We stayed at the camping site on the river for the night. In the morning we had a lovely walk down the river - great 4km walk for the dogs off the lead.

We then decided we needed some champagne and less chateau and so would have a decent trip east! We are now parked at a France Passion site just outside Chablis and have a tasting set for the morning. Mike is making our first curry of the holidays!
