Exploring on the fold-ups

Before leaving La Fleche we decided to explore the area on our fold up bikes. Mike's is a vintage Brompton whilst mine is a brand new top of range B-Twin from Decathlon! The lovely 20km flat route took us along to river to Bazouges sur le Loir then back to the aire. My smart new bike definitly being the easier ride!

After lunch we decided to move on and drive nearer to the coast. After a small sat nav plotting error (by me-Michael) we eventualy arrived in Outon. Not the most interesting of parking areas but an interesting town with a sculpture trail which provided a great dog walk route for the evening.

On Tuesday morning we drove to Noirmoutier-en-I'lle. This is a fascinating island. There are loads of small pools which are used to harvest salt and small huts with nets which we presumed are used for oyster harvesting.

One we had settled into another Camping Car aire we had a walk around the pretty town with the dogs.

After lunch we got out the bikes again. This time we got lost and the 20km route became 30km - a long way on a rusty Brompton! (Michael ... its not that rusty... the rider is :-) ). It was great to see so much of the island. It is obviously a great French holiday resort. Lots of sweet white houses with blue shutters and then some big old victorian style mansions on the outskirts of town. We had a great explore on the cycle trails.
Also bought some cheese from a 'posh' fromagerie!
