Northumberland - Days 6 & 7 - Bellingham and Kielder Water

The weather has got a bit warmer now - Sunday afternoon.  Saturday was a very wet afternoon but despite the mixed weather we have managed some nice walks.

We decided to stay around Bellingham on Saturday and did 2 walks - the "classic" falls walk - Hareshaw Linn - which was a nice walk just under 6 miles from the campsite. It bucketed it down with rain on the way down but as we were under trees it was quite fun.

We spend the afternoon in Vincent hiding from some torrential downpours and then headed out down the North Tyne river away from Bellingham looping north into the hills above the river and back into Bellingham in time for a quick drink in the Cheviot Hotel before getting back to the campsite about 7.30 pm.

Today - Sunday we drove to Kielder Water - about 10 miles from Bellingham and walked on the south side of the lake from Hawkhope carpark visiting the Wave Chamber - one of the bits of art scattered around the lake.  it was so quiet for a Sunday - we only met one other person! We then drove Kielder Waterside and ate some lunch in Vincent decided it was too busy and drove and drank coffee and cake in Vincent in a car park at Matthew's Linn.  We decided to expore the far end of the lake at Kielder Castle, expecting it to be busy, where we did a short walk known as Dutchess Trail.  We had the trail to ourselves!

Tomorrow we are off to Hadrian's Wall!
