Poppies, churches and sea views

It feels so good to be back out in Vincent. The last time he left the drive, apart for a garage visit, was November. Our first stop was a small Caravan and Motorhome club CL on the outskirts of Cromer. There were mainly caravans there and a nice chatty man from Northamptonshire drew a map for us so we knew how to get up the cliffs.

We explored that route to Cromer the first evening and then the next day went on a shortish cycle round the local villages - Northrepps, Southrepps and Overstrand. It took a bit of time to get going as we realised my water bottle holder had broken and we had forgotten Mike's phone holder for the front of the bike. Luckily there was a Halfords in Cromer so we nipped in there with the dogs at the end of the day before walking up to the lighthouse and back home through the local golf course.

On Wednesday we headed round the coast. We stopped in Cley-next-the-sea for a walk around the marshland to Blakeney. Loads of people at Blakeney harbour - obviously a popular tourist spot.

After buying a few things for lunch at the local delicatessen we headed to our next campsite at Burnham Market. Fallowfield is on the edge of the village and run by Chris - a real character who obviously loves talking to all his guests. He explained how Burnham 'Up' Market is full of very expensive self catering cottages and houses. The main problem is appaently that the companies can not get the staff to clean the houses. There seems to be building going on everywhere. It is a very pretty village with a selection of very expensive looking shops (Joules and Jack Wills and some more expensive bespoke) and restaurants. We did viist the local baker on Thursday morning and bought two croissants, two pain an chocolat and two brownies for over £12!

Apparently the village is the birth place of Lord Nelson whose father was a vicar at one of the many churches in the village. We have noticed that there seem to be a lot of big churches in North Norfolk. The village of Burnham Market has at least three!

On Thursday we headed off for a longer cycle which included some very overgrown byways but also included a visit to Holkam Park where we managed to get a coffee and cake in the cafe. There is a huge triathlon there this weekend so there were loads of staff setting that up.

Today we actually saw the sun - yippee. We took the dogs for quite a long walk down to the coast and round through Burnham Overy Staithe and Burnham Norton. Mitzi felt the walk was far too long and started to protest near the end so we spent the rest of the day relaxing for the day before the rain started at 6.30 pm. The forecast for the next two days is not looking good!
