Wow scenery and wine

The next day we drove to the 'Aizkorri-Aratz parke naturala' and parked near the Ullibarri-Gamboa Resevoir. After lazying about over a long lunch and coffee we took the dogs for a walk round the edge of the water once it had started to cool down.

The next day we cycled round the bottom part of the reservoir which has a couple of bridges so you can get across - one of which is floating!

After a lunch and long dog walk we decided to move on and drove to Laguardia. This is a small village on top of a hill in Rioja country. The view from the town is absolutely stunning so we decided to not bother with a cup of tea but sit and have a beer outside the 'Irish' bar and admire the view. The pink trees are almonds!

We had a lovely walk round the village the next day which included the obligatory  Boulongerie visit.

After breakfast we decided to visit one of the many 'bodegas'. There are hundreds of these wineries so Mike researched and found one that sells its wine to the Wine Society! Consequently we visited Domaine Javier San Pedro Ortega and had a lovely informative chat before tasting and then consequently buying a few bottles (a case) of wine.

After leaving the bodega we drove through Spain up into the Pyrenees and crossed over the border to France.
